Which Union Member Are You?

Some members keep their union strong, while other join and just belong.

Some dig right in – some serve with pride,

Some go along just for the ride.

Some volunteer to do their share, while some lie back and just don’t care.

On meeting day some always show, while there are those who never go.

Some do their best, some build, some make, some never give, but always take.

Some lag behind, some let things go, some never help their Union grow.

Some drag, some pull, some don’t, some do, consider –

Which of these are you?

St. Louis Metro Strike Team participated in training at OE Local 513 Training
Updated On: Sep 12, 2016
Members of St. Louis Metro Strike Team 1 (STLM-ST1) participated in training this week with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 513 at Local 513's state of the art training facility north of Troy, MO. STLM-ST1 is a collaborative team with members from fire, medical, law enforcement and the private sector that operates as an Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) team available for regional and statewide activation to events requiring specialty rescue assets.

CCFR has 14 members assigned to STLM-ST1, at least 4 per shift. Training this week was designed to introduce team members to the skill of moving heavy debris from a collapse zone using heavy machinery. In a natural or man-made disaster, this training will provide team members a foundation from which to operate collectively with the I.U.O.E. in safely accessing and removing victims from a structural collapse. In the evolution with the cutting torches, the goal was to cut the nut off the bolt without damaging the threads of the bolt.

The potential for this training to be used is ever more on the minds of everyone as we approach the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks that rocked our nation, requiring this very type of training be used at ground zero in New York and Washington D.C.

While we hope to never have to put this training to use anywhere other than the training ground, CCFR and its members remain ever vigilant and ready to answer your call for help...whatever need you have.
